Honda XRE 300 review
Honda XRE 300 Adventure bike has become the next motorcycle to be launched in India by Honda followed by the recent launch of a 1000cc class motorcycle, the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. Honda has already announced about the Africa twin model arriving in India, which may be accompanied by the Honda XRE 300. The launch of the XRE 300 is expected to be launched at the end of 2017.
Honda XRE 300 Adventure Design
The Adventure design was previously tried by the Heromoto Corp in the name of IMPULSE, which was a 150cc motorcycle. Heromoto Corp was too smart and advanced about the Adventure rally model, however, the lovers of the Adventure model motorcycle were not present on those days.
Honda XRE 300 appears slim about its body with the spokes wheels obeying the lines of the adventure rally motorcycles. The headlight continues to the front as a long fender preventing the mud splash.
The side mount exhaust is set high and overall the XRE 300 once again reminiscent the Hero Impulse.
Honda Vs Royal Enfield
Honda has taken up the chance of selling Adventure model bikes in India, especially after knowing about the youth’s interest shown towards the KTM Adventure 390 and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Honda has already given a clue about the making of cruiser motorcycles like Royal Enfield with the help of a special team.
In addition, the Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is now ready to launch the Honda XRE 300 against the Himalaya 300 with an attractive price tag of INR 1.8-2.2 lakhs.
Honda XRE 300 engine and gearbox
The 291.6 cc, Double overhead camshaft, single cylinder, Air-cooled, four stroke engine of Honda XRE 300 can produce a maximum power of 25.4 BHP @ 7,500 RPM and a peak torque of 27.6 Nm @ 6,000 RPM.
The engine is connected to a Five-speed gearbox and expected to have a refined and raw power producing engine.
Suspensions and brakes
The long travel suspensions of the XRE 300 is the perfect choice by the Honda to handle the off road paths without hits, while the single monoshock features in the rear.
The braking system of the Honda XRE 300 comes with an optional ABS and both the wheels are supported by the disc setup.
Honda XRE 300 price in India
The XRE 300 is expected to price around INR 2 lakh rupees in India. As the Royal Enfield motorcycle has gained huge interest, setting a competitive price can push more Adventure bikes out of the showroom. Honda should also consider about the Suzuki V storm 250, KTM Adventure 390 and BMW G310GS.
