Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS4
Bajaj Pulsar 220f BS4 is the thick pillar of the Bajaj motorcycles since a decade. The Pulsar 220 has revolutionized the world of motorcycle inviting many of the Pulsar maniacs fall for it. The Bajaj Pulsar 220F was also celebrated in many television channels and stunt shows.
Before the launch of Dominar 400, the Pulsar 220F is the only higher capacity motorcycle and is considered to be the bigger brother for the younger pulsar variants. Though, there were other performance motorcycles available, the Bajaj Pulsar 220F are the cheapest and fastest bike available to make the normal Indian to be a Fastest Indian.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS4 feature update
The bad part of the Pulsar 220 is the convention design retained for many years, though appears decent and neat. The current date motorcycles offer a great sense of styling, while the 220 need to be upgraded.
But, the BS4 2017 model of Pulsar 220F took the game a step ahead. The new design and the paint scheme of the Pulsar 220F BS4 Variant is much charming and dazzling. Bajaj call the new scheme as laser edge graphics. The semi faired headlight remains the same, but looks more appealing in the new paint and graphics scheme.
The double headlight placed one after the other and the AHO (Auto headlight on) system of the BS4 Update is exciting. The instrument cluster is improved to illuminate in the blue color replacing the orange old background.
The LED tail light splashes the red waves, but Bajaj may have replaced the tasteless old indicators to improve the style.
The side mirrors fixed on the semi fair unit sometimes disturb the handling ability and needs constant adjustment. Often the rear road side views are not the best view from the Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS4, which requires additional care about the rear coming vehicles.
Attractive black carbon coated exhaust
One of the best part of the Pulsar 220F BS4 is the side mounted exhaust combining the silver finish open mouth. The carbon coated black shade exhaust looks cylindrical and improves the overall look of the 220F.
Moderate grab rails and pillion comfort
The pillion rider of the 220 Pulsar needs to be really careful and during the fast revs and corners. As the rider twists the throttle, the moment pushes the pillion rider to fall back and the support given by the grab rails are poor and not the best clips to gain a grip.
However, the pillion seating position is very much relaxed and comfortable for long rides without any issues. The Bajaj Pulsar 220F BS4 2017 model offers more of a comfortable seat made of premium material.
220F BS4 Compliant Engine
The changes were found only on the Pulsar 220F external side, while the engine specs remain the same as it used to be without the incorporation of any tweaks.
The 220 cc, Single cylinder, oil cooled, 4-stroke, DTS-I engine of the Pulsar 220F BS4 is capable of producing 20.93 PS at 8500 RPM of maximum power and 18.55 NM @ 7000 RPM of peak torque. The engine is connected to a 6-speed gearbox and are smooth during the gear shifts.
The major update is the BS4 compliant engine for the year 2017. The engine sound is pleasant and not a big difference is noticed in the BS4 upgradation. The performance is almost the same as compared to the previous BS3 version 220F pulsars.
On checking the other parameters of the BS4 engine, the Bajaj Pulsar 220F top speed is clocked at 134 Kmph and a mileage of 32 Kmpl.
Brakes, tires and suspension
At the front the Pulsar 220F BS4 variant employs the conventional Telescopic forks with an anti-friction bush, while the rear side is the five-way adjustable Nitrox mono shock unit.
The braking units of the 220F BS4 are responsive and feels better. The front wheel is fitted with a 260 mm single disk and the rear wheel is stopped by the 230 mm single disc. The moderate rear braking power is improved in the new Pulsar 200F.
The black five spoke alloys gets no improvement and wear Tubeless 90/90 -17 sized tire in the front and a broader 120/80-17 Tubeless tire in the rear.
