BMW G310GS review
The unveiling of BMW G310R recently made many to wait for the reputed BMW brand motorcycle to come India available. Followed by that, the 2016 EICMA show displayed an adventure type motorcycle, which is offered from BMW. The company named the Bike as G310GS, which is the successor of BMW R1200GS ADVENTURE. The BMW G310GS has all its designs to adventure the ride at all the aspects of tourism.
The information obtained is that, the bike is going to be available in Brazil soon in 2017, and remaining plans are kept hidden. However, the BMW G310GS is expected to roll out in the Indian market by the end of 2017. The G310GS may find Suzuki V storm as the tough rival.
BMW G310GS outlook and design
The G310GS is absolutely for the adventurous ride, says the heart of every rider. No matter the road belongs to the urban side of the road that is passing through the forest. The BMW G310GS dives into to the performance, says BMW.
Though, the new G310GS is an adventure and touring model, the design still remains to be the derivative of naked BMW G310R. The golden upside down forks, the alloy wheels, fuel tank, side exhaust and seat setup are almost identical to the naked G310R.
The large front fender of the G310GS prevents the splashes from the marshy off roads in the forest or mountain track. The top fixed visor prevents the wind blast against the rider on highways and open surroundings. The engine cover of the G310GS is crafted carefully to keep the engine clean even after passing through the tough off road rides.
The adventure and touring G310GS are powered by the GPS navigation system using the smart mobile phone. A compact stand for the mobile phone is available to keep safe the mobile device, while exploring into the unexplored areas.
The system also has the facility to charge the mobile phone to stay awake throughout the ride.
Rear loggy trek
The rear loggy trek of the motorcycle keeps the rider’s luggage easy and safe. The BMW claims that the top box cases can be fixed to carry more for the traveller.
Engine and gearbox
The BMW G310GS uses the same engine configuration that powers the street fighter G310R. The motorcycle is powerful with 313 cc, single-cylinder, Water-cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valves with DOHC and wet sump lubrication system.
The G310GS produces 34 BHP @ 9,500 RPM of maximum power and maximum torque of 28 NM @ 7,500 RPM. The 6 speed manual gearbox can give comfortable shifts even on off roads.
BMW G310GS Top speed and Fuel Injection
BMW promises a better fuel economy over the other motorcycles as compared to the G310GS. The engine is managed for the fuel mixture using the FI BMS-E2 system, controlling emissions as per EU-4 standards. The G310GS is claimed to give a better mileage with a top speed of 143 Kmph.
Dimension of G310GS
The length of BMW G310GS measures for about 2075 mm, width of 880 mm and height of 1230 mm. The wheelbase of 1420 mm and seat height of 835 mm is good for the riding position without worrying about the poor gravelled roads.
The digital console of G310GS is expected to get more information and comes with a small GPS for navigation.
The motorcycle uses a complete set of digital treat. A digital Speedometer, tachometer, redline indicator, clock, odometer, trip meter, fuel consumption, gear indicator and other details are found together as instrumental cluster.
The G310GS breaking department is strengthened by the single 300 mm diameter disc with a radially bolted 4-piston caliper in the front and the 240 mm diameter rear disc with single floating caliper for better safety.
The ABS (BMW Motorrad ABS) for the G310GS is not confirmed in all variants, but available as optional. The ABS can be switched on and off according to the rider’s requirement.
The forks of the G310GS are re-tuned to withstand the harshest and tough conditions. The Ø 41 mm Upside-down telescopic fork and the rear adjustable preload Solid die-cast aluminum swingarm, directly hinged monoshock is on the softer side to jump and land.
The size of the tyres for G310GS is carefully selected keeping appropriate for the top speed and travelling roads. The front 110/80 R 19 and rear 150/70 R 17 tubeless tyres from Michelin gives the bike an amazing traction ability irrespective of the road conditions and weather.
The front wheel of 19 inch can keep the motorcycle nimble and handy over the pathless areas and disturbing gravel roads.
Racing Red, Pearl White Metallic and Cosmic Black are the currently available colours in the G310GS.
